Laboratorio Cerámico Sebastián Carpi was created in November 1973 by the Official College of Industrial Engineers of Castellón, recibiendo su nombre en honor al Decano que presidía por aquel entonces el Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros Industriales de la Comunitat Valenciana, D. Sebastián Carpi Vilar.
This lab was created to provide technical support and promote quality in the manufacturing sector of wall and floor tiles.
El año 1990 el Laboratorio Sebastián Carpi obtuvo la primera acreditación ENAC (15/LE 064) para la realización de ensayos sobre baldosas cerámicas.
More recently, in September 2013, se obtuvo la acreditación como Organismo de Control en el ámbito de las Instalaciones Eléctricas de Baja Tensión (385/EI656).

Laboratorio Cerámico Sebastián Carpi was the first national laboratory tests to be created for the evaluation of the quality of ceramic tiles. Desde su fundación en el año 1973, has made more than 60000 technical reports for companies in the ceramic industry. He attended meetings of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), product technical data, Spanish for the development and adoption of European standards regulating ceramic tiles, well as meetings of the CTT-67 (Ceramics) in Madrid for the final wording of Spanish rules.
Laboratorio Cerámico Sebastián Carpi is accredited by the National Accreditation (ENAC) for testing ceramic tiles according to UNE-EN-ISO .
Nowadays, Laboratorio Cerámico Sebastián Carpi is a member of the Technical Committee of Certification (CTC-13) AENOR, and the Technical Committee of Standardization (CTN-138), having participated in the drafting of the Technical Regulations governing the certification of ceramic tiles and the granting of the brand 'N'.
Laboratorio Cerámico Sebastián Carpi contributes to promoting and supporting the ceramic sector participating in the technical committee Qualicer, World Congress on Quality Floor Tiles and Ceramic, held biannually since 1990. Since its inception, Qualicer has become the most prestigious international forum where the latest proposals are, contributions and advances in research techniques for improving ceramic tiles.
